Two Computer Related Questions

1. My friends computer keeps giving a low virtual memory error. I increased the page size, actually doubled it and it still happens. Any ideas?

2. Windows Media Player does not play audio. If I open a wmv file it plays the video, but no audio. I downloaded and installed the latest WMP 10 and it didnt help. My audio is fine on the PC so I dont know why it doesnt work. Any thoughts? I went to MS site and searched for answers and found none.

Thanks everyone!

Need more information

1) OS version.
2) Drive space available and total space used.
3) When does error message occur?
4) What is the actual error message?

Here are a few things to try..

Does WMP play plain old .wav or .mp3 files?

For your media player problem try the sound settings in the Control Panel. (Note there are two ways to look at the control panel, so there are two sets of instructions here. Use the set that applies to your setup):

Control Panel (Windows Classic Folders view)
..Sounds and Audio Devices
....Volume Tab
......Device Volume section (Clear MUTE)
........Advanced (Clear and MUTEs)
......Speaker settings
........Advanced (Make sure your speakers are properly identified)

Control Panel (New Windows view)
..Sounds, Speach and Audio Devices
....In the lower half of the screen select Sounds, Speach and Audio Devices again.
....Volume Tab
......Device Volume section (Clear MUTE)
........Advanced (Clear and MUTEs)
......Speaker settings
........Advanced (Make sure your speakers are properly identified)
