Maybe we just fixed Global Warming to much and now have Global Cooling to wring our hands about. _________________ You can't hold a liberal responsible for their words because it's character assassination.

Studies have revealed that the rate of glacier melt is increasing and that they are receding faster than in any other part of the world.
Muneer Ahmad of the National Geophysical Research Institute in Hyderabad, said the nose of the Kolhai glacier in Kashmir, one of the largest glaciers in the Himalayas, had receded by almost 22 metres in 2007 while several smaller glaciers had disappeared completely.
And Ajit Tyagi, Director General of Indian Meteorological Department, warned that the glaciers could disappear even sooner if the earth continues to warm at its current rate. link |

I know, huh? | Quote: | | "The error was so glaring that when it was reported on the two blogs - run by the US meteorologist Anthony Watts and Steve McIntyre, the Canadian computer analyst who won fame for his expert debunking of the notorious "hockey stick" graph - GISS began hastily revising its figures. This only made the confusion worse because, to compensate for the lowered temperatures in Russia, GISS claimed to have discovered a new "hotspot" in the Arctic - in a month when satellite images were showing Arctic sea-ice recovering so fast from its summer melt that three weeks ago it was 30 per cent more extensive than at the same time last year." |

It's probably because one weather event has nothing to do with climate change.
Pointing to a snow event is the southwest as proof that the planet is cooling makes about as much sense as pointing to a few days of really warm weather during the same period in the southeast and suggesting that's caused by global warming, which is exactly what we saw this week.
The decry of global catastrophe from the left is just as absurd as the total denial coming from the right.
The big problem I see is that the alarmists on the left are using the evidence obtained so far to try to scare the folks and indoctrinate our youth so they can fill government coffers and promote their socialist agenda, with many on the right using the same tactic. McCain, and those of his ilk, is case in point. Anyone who supports cap & trade as a solution is running a huge scam on the American people.
I will vote against anyone who supports cap & trade, from any party.
If you're a greenie and want to voluntarily purchase carbon offsets, more power to you but the idea of government mandates is ridiculous.
Scientific theory suggests we may experience a slight cooling event over the next 10 years or so, which is a normal cyclical occurrence. We have to measure average temps over many decades to see evidence of overall climate change.
I fully support any government effort to promote and encourage decreased emissions and conservation, short of increasing taxes. B.F. Skinner (building from Pavlov's work) proved that you need to reward for behavior you want to occur again and remove rewards for behavior you wish to discourage, as the best way to affect behavior. The government should provide tax breaks and incentives for companies and individuals to be more energy efficient. Conserving energy and fuel keeps prices low, as evidenced by gas approaching $1.00 a gallon.
Keep conserving folks!! _________________
