The War

PBS, Ken Burns, On Now. I've read watched and absorbed as much as I could of this era for the some odd 43 years of my life. I thought I had seen nearly all there was to see in still photos, they have found some more somewhere. This is not just another hitler channel World War 2 documentary. Check it out.

Haven't seen in yet, but Ken Burns has been a great documentary maker. This should be no exception.

Well his Civil War work was great but is was heavy point of view from the North. It is sort of understandable when you consider a Documentary, So many records of the Confederates were lost and destroyed after the war so how much can you document. But there are histories available to work with. You can still balance the view.

But yes, this is a very well done record.

Touching moment just now. Footage of a B17 crew going out to their aircraft, fearless dog is riding on top of the jeep and jumps off before it stops rolling. An AAF Vet is telling us about the fear they felt, "we didn't want to get on the plane, but our friends were getting on the plane" The crew starts to ingress into their aircraft. As the tail gunner is trying to get in the rear hatch the dog is tugging on his pant leg like trying to get the airman to stay.

remember that in the early years, only 1 in 4 airmen survived bombing missions over Europe.

I hear your point, but history is written by the winners, and the North did win, so call it a day and move on. Unless you choose to live in the past, and that is entirely your right, the same as it is for a crack whore to choose her own reality.

Don't be hattin' me because I'm a rebel!

I don't live in the past but I do honor the history. As much history as I can get.

I'm loving this documentary. Thought it would be same old...but it's not.
Ken Burns is a genius.
Where did he get all those old films from? I read it took him five years to put it together.

Can't wait for Sunday!!!! Very Happy
