Sticky Fingers Update

Well, Sticky Fingers has moved themselves to the bottom of my 'places to go for wings' list. Here is why:

When they first opened here, and for about a year, $6.95 bought you 12 wings and celery and blue cheese.

About 9 months ago, the celery and blue cheese became 'on request only'.

About 4 months later, the blue cheese became an extra $0.50 charge.(Now like Hooters, without the view)

As of yesterday, the first day I saw their new menu, the same $6.95 just gets you 10 wings.

Believe me, I understand food costs. I've worked in restaurants before. I just find it annoying that what I used to pay for a nice filling lunch now buys +/- 20% less food(approximating the value of the celery and blue cheese at about 3%). Might seem petty to most folks, but since I've recommended Sticky Fingers in the past, I felt compelled to modify my recommendation because of the changes.

Yeah I know a few guys who go to Hooters for the view, er, the wings

That's too bad about the increase in cost for Sticky Fingers CHL, that's disappointing Sad

Wanted to update. I sent basically the same rant I posted here to the Sticky Fingers comment e-mail address. By the end of the day I had an e-mail back from the "Operating Partner" of the Woodruff Road location thanking my for my input and confirming that it was basically a choice between increasing the cost and decreasing the portion size. Since wings are typically an appetizer at Sticky Fingers, they chose to make the portion size smaller.

He told me that he would send a gift certificate because he wants to keep me as a customer, and I've already received it in the mail. It was more generous than I expected. He also told me where I could go to get coupons for free wings, and I've already picked up some.

Based on their excellent response I'll continue to recommend Sticky Fingers because they do have great food and excellent wings. They don't exacty meet my needs for lunch now, but they will keep me as a customer.

That was great followup by Sticky Fingers. They explained their position, and how they came to the decision, then followed it with an offer to keep you happy.

Mrs RB and I have eaten there for lunch and we thought it was pretty good.

Never had their wings nor do I ever get the chance for lunch there but I do like their ribs. Sounds like a good bunch running the place too. Thanks for the update CHL.

Here is the list of places from his e-mail to get the free wing coupons:

" I also wanted to point out that many upstate locations have free wing sampler cards available for their customers. These businesses include, Greenville Tech, Greenville Car Wash, Canopy Car Wash, The Money Store, Bermuda Triangle, several area hotels, rental car facilities, and other businesses."

The place I got the coupon was not on the list. Harvard's Wine and Beverages, near Garden Ridge off Woodruff Road.
