Outlook 2002 Error
I use Outlook 2002 (10.6515.6735) updated to SP3.
Outlook was working fine until I messed with it. (I know unmess with it. )
I recently added my Hotmail account to my e-mail profile, so Outlook will show mail that arrives at my isp's mail server or at my Hotmail account.
The isp e-mail is configured as a POP/SMTP account. The Hotmail account is configured as an HTTP type.
Outlook periodically (15 minutes) checks both e-mail accounts to see if any new mail has arrived. This worked correctly until I configured the Hotmail account. Now, when it checks Hotmail and finds new mail, it transfers it into my local mail folder and then pops up this message:
If i click No, Outlook locks up and must be killed with the Task Manager.
If I simply click, Yes the message box immediately reappears. This happens three of four times and then Outlook locks up. Once I waited 24 hours and it did not recover. The only option is to close Outlook with the Task Manager.
If I click the Allow access for 1 minute check box and then Yes, everything is fine.
The problem that I have is that I don't really know what caused the message to pop up in the first place. It doesn't tell me that it found new mail from Hotmail, or anything else. It just pops up that box.
Many times I'll come back to the PC and find that message on my screen without a clue about why it is there.
I found this at the support.microsoft.com web site. Essentially, it tells me there is nothing I can do about it.
Has anyone else encountered this?
