No video in the DAMN fence thread movie

Long story here. The DAMN fence thread has a movie in it and I can only hear it. No video.

In the FF newsgroup, they recommended this:
"Having problems with Windows Media Player working in Firefox?"
http://port25.technet.com/pages/windows-media-player-firefox-plugin-download.aspx

I did, still don't have vid in that movie. I posted the link to the vid in the newsgroup.

Someone else recommended the FFDShow MPEG-4 Video Decoder 2007-06-20. He said he had no video either until he installed the decoder at:

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm

I read about MMX and SSE, so downloaded the CPU-Z utility they recommended to check to see if I had support for them. Looks like I do.

http://www.click-now.net/cgi-bin/download.pl?file=0639

(BTW it's a nice little utility. I extracted it to a folder on my desktop and ran it from the folder).

Now, getting down to the nitty gritty - finally. Here is a graphic of my choices to download plus a blurb about my cpu. I don't know which one to download.

Image of my cpu and the choices

I saw the install plugin also. This is one reason I don't like to watch video online. I attempted to install and it wanted WMP11 and said a manual install option. I opted out. WMP 11 is already installed and running. Though I did install FF after WMP was runing and playing correctly.

If I were installing from that list I'd start at the latest date and work back till it worked.

That's a good suggestion however they are all the same date. Wink

Guess I could start with the top one that doesn't have anything after it.

I don't know what any of them are. That's why I'm asking.

Well hell, I'll try one and see what happens. MMX is the old Multimedia something or nother from years ago when Intel put out the pentium chip 200mz and that range. It's some built in instruction code on the processor it self. I suspect you'd be safe with any of them but if you want to wait for a second opinion... I'm not sure why they have that on the plugin when today most everyone would have the MMX enabled CPU.

Well... I did that. I have a green screen in the video and no sound now.

Gaah!!

I didn't know what half that stuff meant when I was configuring it so just used the defaults.

Windows Media Player has problems with AVI. There always seems to be codec issues.

mPlayer handles anything I throw at it.
