MTB fans found out about the origins of the name in 1990, when they released Southern Spirit. There was a tune on there called the Ballad of M.T.B. that told the tale..
Here's an excerpt..
They got their name, from an old keychain, left lying on the floor.
They said it came, from an old man that played.
You know it opened up the door.
So they took off on their own and they left their families' home.
Takin' it day by day.
And they spent most of their time, writin' songs 'bout Caroline
Their gonna make it one day.
I looked for that tune on YouTube but couldn't find it. I did find a video of the real Marshall Tucker though..
He sure seems like nice ol' fella.. _________________

I remember when I was a little kid a piano tuner came and tuned our piano. I was fascinated watching him. He'd play a note over and over while he tuned it and I don't recall him using any tuning forks or anything. He must have had perfect pitch too. _________________
