Discussion Thread For Script-fu Script Bling-Text.scm

Bling Text V1.1 (download)

My new script allows you easily to create text and logos using variations of the Bling/Sparkle effect created by O. Lot's of interesting variations can be achieved by varying font, text-color, BG color, shadow-color and bling type.

Here's examples of some variations that can be achieved with this script.

You don't need the Puppy cd to do this, ET. Download gimp for windows.

Check out this thread about how to do it.

Looks like you don't have to download a gtk package for it tho. Comes in it. It's nice to have the help files that you can download below the gimp2.4 download.

You know I dont know what I'm doing, but I'm trying.I figured I had at least one readable picture, and I'd show it to yall.

The tutorials in the tut thread is a good way to start.

Some stuff has changed since v2.4 but they're pretty good for a basic start.

I think you did excellently on your first graphic in gimp! Hug Me Flower

My first time in gimp, I threw up my hands and Scram

Hey, nice going. You're making progress.

You need to copy the files located in the zip bling-text-v1.zip file to Gimp. Copy bling-text.scm to the \scripts folder and the files in the pattern folder to \pattern. O can tell you where those folders are located in Windows. Then restart Gimp.

You can then just select "bling-text" from the menu, enter your text and you're off and running.

O, can you post the full paths to those folders in Winders, for those Windows users who may not know where to find them.

For Linux..

Global for all users
/usr/share/gimp/2.x/scripts
/usr/share/gimp/2.x/patterns

For single user
/home/<user name>/.gimp-2.x/scripts
/home/<user name>/.gimp-2.x/patterns

(note: .gimp-2.x is a hidden folder so view/show hidden to display)
