OK, I'm looking into boosting wifi connection to a detached garage in my back yard. I have just enough signal to see the network but can't get an IP till I get have way back up the yard. I was looking into one of this High Gain antenna but found some DIY parabolic directional rigs you can add to your antenna and boost the signal.
Anyone have any experience with boosting your signal?
Is there any way to decrease the distance (or gain a better line of sight) from the wireless router to the client adapter? That's the easiest thing to do.
Some of the built-in devices on laptops don't have as good a range as a USB wireless adapter (one with a long cord preferably). You could try one of those if you have one handy.
One of the diy ones is make a directional antenna out of posterboard and tinfoil (be a new club for me). I think I'm going to try that. The Router I have is the linksys with the 2 antenna off the back. I think I'm going to try and boost in 2 directions.
Satellite dish huh....could be VERY directional _________________ You can't hold a liberal responsible for their words because it's character assassination.
