S.C. Senators gave key approval Thursday to a public school choice plan meant to expand the options of students within schools and districts. The 29-8 vote came a day after senators defeated attempts to add private school vouchers to the mix. The proposal, approved by the House last month, would be phased in over three years, eventually allowing parents the chance to transfer their children to any public school regardless of attendance lines. link
