It was inspired by the original Battle of Thermopylae after the director viewed the 1962 film "The 300 Spartans".
It has some amazing special effects and some fabulous scenery. It also has the most graphic battles (in slow motion) that I've seen.
It's all about love, honor, courage and freedom. I highly recommend it. Some may find it too violent but the violence during battles is a necessary part of the movie.

I saw it advertised on TV and it caught my attention but since I never heard of it I thought that it must of sucked and the effects were just cool looking. I guess not... thanks GW I will check it out. Nothings too graphic for me... unless it is real.
I haven't seen it yet, but everyone I know who has, thought it was great! I plan to see it. By timing or not, I saw a movie on history channel a month ago with a documentary about the same battle. And it was well done. By the way, if you purchase it at Best Buy, you get a figurine with it. Or Circuit City offers 4 trading cards with purchase! _________________ THE SHADOW KNOWS...
I saw the movie it was based upon when I was a kid. It was amazing. The history is amazing as well, according to what I have read and the History Channel movie that was mentioned.
This version is a trip, too. I saw it opening night. Definitely not a 'politically correct' movie. I liked it!
