When Starting a New Thread in the Politics Forum SUBJECT Box allows me space in excess of 64 characters
but
on Preview - Submit, the characters length is truncated to 48 maximum.
There seems to be room for a "String" 64 character long.
How about evaluating as a request.

What browser are you using? I haven't looked at this code lately, but I seem to remember setting a limit of around 60 characters.
60 is what I'm seeing on the preview, the post and on the latest topics menu with no truncating. I'm using Firefox on a 1024x768 display with a minimum font size of 12pt.
I've been considering changing increasing the defaut font size due the higher resolution poeple are using. Ona 1024x768 flat panel, a minimum font of around 12pt looks good with not much wasted space. _________________

Just unusual to me as some Forums go to 60 characters and Politics truncates.

I do not say it is a problem - not a biggie - just an observation - minor question - request.
I do not see how it could be causing any harm.

Thanks Aeioun. I do take pride in the correct operation of this forum.
I've did some initial research and have determined the length code for subject line is 60 chars. The space allocated for the subject line is 60 chars in the SQL database as well. This is a global setting for all forums in here.
It appears the problem we are seeing with clipping involves using certain special characters in the subject. I noticed that when I start a new thread with something like. "this is a test thread" (quoting the text) - The subject will be clipped. Doesn't matter which forum I'm in, the subject gets clipped.
I'll continue to try and track down this issue and see if I can determine the cause. For now, just ensure you're not quoting text in the subject line.
I'll play around with other special characters and see if I can find others that may be giving problems, and try to find a solution to this issue.
